Pension Fund Governance Consultant

Mr. Dan is a pension and capacity development consultant with deep domain experience. He retired as General Manager and Head of States Operations Department at the National Pension Commission (the National Regulator and Supervisor of Pension Administration in Nigeria) in October 2019. He was a foundation staff of the Agency since 2006. Prior to joining the National Pension Commission, he was the pioneer Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Training and Research Institute, Karu, Nigeria (now EFCC Academy).

This institution is the training arm of Nigeria’s anti-corruption Agency. He was Director of Training at the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) between 1997 and 2002. The FITC is an institution owned by the Banking sector in Nigeria responsible for the capacity building of the industry. He also worked for an investment bank in Nigeria between 1990 and 1997.

Mr. Dan has been directly involved in the design and implementation of human capacity development initiatives since 1997. While at the National Pension Commission, he headed the Human Capital Management Department and the States Operations Department at different times. He was responsible for capacity building for employees of both the Commission and the pension industry in Nigeria. The Commission sent him on a two-year Technical Assistance Program to Kaduna State, Nigeria in 2016 to serve as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Kaduna State Pension Bureau. He successfully reorganized the pension administration system in the State.

Mr. Dan is a veteran trainer and training administrator, a Certified Executive Presence Index Coach, a Hogan Certified Coach by Hogan Assessment Systems, Inc., and a Certified International Director by INSEAD, France. His Leadership development consulting practice helps organizations to understand and profile their workforce for job rotation, promotion, succession planning, and severance decisions. Tapping from his experiences in the supervision of State Pension Bureaux in Nigeria and the setting up of a State Pension Bureau, he offers to consult assistance to the Nigerian States desirous of restructuring their pension systems.

He is a graduate of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He obtained an MBA and a Ph.D. in International Business from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, the U.K. in 1984 and 1987 respectively.
