Questions

What is data governance?

Data governance is the set of roles, policies, standards and processes that decide how an organisation collects, manages, protects, shares and uses its data.

Is this a data protection compliance check?

It includes data protection questions, but it is not a legal audit. Use the results to identify risks, then confirm compliance with your national law and a qualified adviser.

Can a project team use this, not only a ministry?

Yes. Project implementation units often hold beneficiary and survey data, so the same principles apply, scaled to the size of the team.

How often should we repeat the assessment?

Once a year works for most organisations, or after a major change such as a new system, new law or new programme.
