Global Training Consultant & Facilitator

Design and facilitate practical learning for government, development and institutional clients internationally.

  • Engagement: Independent assignment-based consultant
  • Location: International / remote where assignment permits
  • Region: Global
  • Last reviewed: 27 October 2026

This is an expression of interest for future assignments, not a guaranteed vacancy.

About the role

Global Training Consultants and Facilitators design and deliver practical programmes for ministries, public agencies, project implementation units, NGOs and companies. Programmes run in hub cities around the world, in-house for institutions and online, on subjects such as procurement, contract management, monitoring and evaluation, financial management, safeguards and leadership.

Risalat's programmes are built around participants' real projects. Facilitators who combine technical depth with adult-learning skills make that possible. This is an independent, assignment-based role: each programme is agreed in writing, and many of our facilitators continue their consulting or institutional work alongside it.

Responsibilities

  • Design or adapt programme sessions around participants' roles and current projects.
  • Deliver interactive sessions using case studies, simulations and group work.
  • Prepare session plans, slides, exercises and handouts to Risalat's quality standards.
  • Adapt content to regional context and the rules of the relevant financier.
  • Facilitate discussion so participants leave with practical action plans.
  • Support pre-programme assessments and end-of-programme evaluation.
  • Coordinate with the Risalat programme team on logistics and participant needs.
  • Suggest improvements to programme content after each delivery.
  • Respect confidentiality and the ethics of each participating institution.

Outputs and success measures

  • Session plans and materials for each programme day.
  • Delivered sessions with strong participant engagement.
  • Practical tools or templates participants can use at work.
  • Short delivery report with observations and improvement ideas.
  • Participant evaluation results and follow-up suggestions.

  • Substantial professional experience in at least one technical field we cover.
  • Proven experience facilitating adult learning for professional audiences.
  • Ability to design practical, case-based sessions.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Cultural awareness and experience with international groups.
  • Reliability with preparation, time-keeping and quality.
  • Willingness to travel for in-person programmes when agreed.

Desirable

  • Experience with World Bank, AfDB, ADB, EU, UN or bilateral donor projects.
  • A recognised professional certification in your field (for example CIPS, PMP or a relevant chartered membership).
  • Training-of-trainers or instructional design qualifications.
  • Delivery in French, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish.

Tools and skills

  • Session design
  • Case study development
  • PowerPoint or Google Slides
  • Online facilitation (Zoom, Teams)
  • Participant assessment
  • Simulation and group exercises

What you gain

  • Delivery opportunities with participants from many countries and sectors.
  • Collaboration with Risalat's multidisciplinary team of consultants and trainers.
  • A growing portfolio of programmes delivered in different cities and formats.
  • Possible involvement in programme design and new topics as demand grows.

How we work

Facilitators work as independent consultants on an assignment basis. Dates, location (hub city, in-house or online), preparation time, deliverables and fees are agreed in writing for each programme. Many facilitators combine assignments with their own practice or institutional role.

Assignments, working hours, fees, deliverables and location are agreed in writing before work begins. This listing does not guarantee selection, paid work or a minimum number of assignments. Applicants employed elsewhere must comply with employer policies and disclose conflicts of interest.

Selection process

  1. Apply online with your CV, topics you can deliver and examples of past programmes.
  2. We review expertise, delivery experience and fit with current demand.
  3. A conversation or short demonstration session on a topic you know well.
  4. Profile added to our expert network; specific assignments are offered as they arise.
  5. A written agreement for each programme before preparation starts.

We assess every application on relevance, demonstrated work and current project needs.

Questions

Will I be offered work straight away?

Not necessarily. Assignments depend on programme demand and fit. Joining the network means we can consider you for suitable programmes.

Do programmes include travel?

Some do. Programmes run in hub cities, in-house for institutions or online. Travel is always agreed in advance.

Can I suggest new programme topics?

Yes. We welcome proposals that answer real needs in donor-financed projects and public institutions.
