Introducción al programa

Precision agriculture capitalizes on technology such as satellite imagery, GPS, drones, and field mapping to enhance crop quality and profitability. Compared to traditional techniques, precision agriculture supports the improvement of soil quality, management of irrigation timing, nutrient application, yield prediction, and much more. What’s more, overall, it reduces the sector’s vulnerability to climate change. With smart technologies, farmers can control all processes remotely and make financial savings while increasing their production.

This training programme has exclusively been designed by Risalat to help farmers and agribusinesses optimize their resource management process, increase productivity, lower costs, and reduce their environmental footprint. Upon the successful completion of the programme, participants shall have a thorough grasp of fundamental concepts in precision agriculture and understand how to leverage technology to optimize farm operations.

Público destinatario

Precision Agriculture and Smart Technologies training can prove beneficial for a wide range of professionals involved in farming and related activities. These may include but not be limited to:

  • Farmers
  • Agribusiness professionals
  • Agricultural extension agents
  • Members of government and regulatory agencies
  • NGOs and International Development Organizations
  • Agricultural consultants

The day shall cover:

  • Visit to a farm with precision agriculture technology in place
  • Demonstration of selected smart technologies used in precision farming
  • Observation of variable rate application of inputs
  • Hands-on experience with precision irrigation systems
  • Interaction with farmers and agronomists implementing precision farming practices

Metodología del programa

The training methodology used is designed to encourage maximum participation of all delegates. The consultants will lead sessions through open presentations and support them with interactive exercises, flipped learning, case studies, video demonstrations, and group assignments.

Proven adult-learning methodology and principles guide the entire process intending to maximize the effectiveness of the delivery and create a long-lasting impact. Practical exposure and panel discussions target the development of real-life capabilities to drive a broader transition to precision farming practices.

Perfil del país anfitrión

Precision agriculture in the Netherlands is highly advanced and widely adopted, driven by the country’s small land area, high population density, and intensive agricultural practices. Dutch farmers leverage sensors, data analytics, and AI for optimized cultivation, enhancing efficiency and yields through data-driven precision beyond GPS. They produce 20 times the yield per unit area compared to the global average, thanks to advanced greenhouse technology and optimized growing conditions. More than 50% of Dutch arable farmers currently use GPS with more and more willing to invest in precision agriculture technology.
