International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) in Tbilisi

International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) Training was conducted by Risalat Consultants International for the staff members of Johns Hopkins University, Ethiopia. The program took place at Didube Plaza Business Center in Tbilisi, Georgia.

IPSAS Training was arranged for five consecutive days. Namely on 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25^th of November 2018. Each day the program lasted from 10 am. (Tbilisi Time) to 5 pm. (Tbilisi Time). The main aim of the training was to replenish the knowledge of participants about International Public Sector Accounting Standards and to provide them with the necessary tools for first-time adoption as well as the transition process. The particular emphasis was made on sharing international experience and best practices from the region.

The core areas covered during the program included:

• IPSAS requirements, Accounting Policies and Disclosures
• Requirements and Benefits of Accrual Based Accounting
• Links and implications to and for broader strategies: Financial Management, Taxation, Asset Management, Governance, and accountability
• IPSAS Usage in real-life IPSAS financial statements
• The practical implications and challenges of an IPSAS conversion project
• Best Practices of IPSAS Application
