GIS Mapping and QGIS Training Course was conducted in Dushanbe, Tajikistan at the premises of Atlas Guesthouse on the dates of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th October 2015. The program was designed for GIS/QGIS users with little to no experience. It aimed to form the foundational skills for GIS applications and help participants learn how to utilize the Open-source GIS software package QUANTUM as a cost-effective and viable alternative to commercially available GIS solutions such as ArcGIS and MapInfo.
The training provided the participants with the general understanding of the tools and features used in QGIS software to create and edit maps, create new layers, and high-quality outputs. The program focused on forming hand-on experience through individual computer-based practical sessions and group assignments.
The participants of the program represented various Afghan Organisations operating in different industries and domains. A total number of 5 delegates were present throughout the three days of the training.
