Program Overview

Agronomy combines the applied aspects of soil and plant sciences. Dealing with crops and pastures, it is directly responsible for the production of food and fiber consumed by both humans and livestock. Specialized knowledge of advanced agronomy allows professionals to maximize crop yields while minimizing external inputs including fertilizers, soil, and water. Applying sustainable agronomic practices means we can meet global food demand efficiently by fostering sustainable and resilient agriculture.

Advanced Agronomy Workshop in Hanoi has been created to meet the needs of agronomists and agriculture professionals. It covers a broad range of specialized topics from ecology and adaptation of crops to solving complex problems associated with climate change, nutrient deficiency, crop diseases, insect pests, and physiological disorders.  The workshop is centered around the development of sustainable farming practices and the promotion of long-term viability.

Target Audience

This workshop is an ideal suit for agronomists and agricultural professionals who are seeking a more in-depth understanding of the field. In addition, it is also a good match for those willing to learn about modern and sustainable agronomic practices. Potential target audience may include but is not limited to the below:

  • Agronomists
  • Agriculture consultants and advisors
  • Crop optimization specialists
  • Farm managers
  • Agricultural extension professionals
  • Crop breeders
  • Government agricultural professionals

Program Objectives

Advanced agronomy workshop aims to provide its participants with profound knowledge and understanding of the field. It targets applications in specific areas of agronomy from crop physiology and soil science to pest management and precision agriculture. Upon the completion of the program, its delegates shall be able to:

  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of advanced agronomy and its methodologies using cutting-edge technology, data analytics, and specialized equipment.
  • Analyze and solve complex agronomic challenges and match innovative solutions with them
  • Adopt advanced crop management strategies from rotation to intercropping and diversification
  • Manage soil health in a sustainable manner
  • Understand applications in advanced crop breeding
  • Adapt agricultural practices to changing weather patterns and mitigate climate risks.

In addition, they shall receive demonstrations on precision farming using GIS and GPS technology alongside remote sensing applications. They shall pay a visit to the partner organic farm and study its practices and infrastructure.

Program Methodology

The program is centered around practical skills development and knowledge enhancement concerning advanced agronomic practices. The presentation, exercises, simulations, case studies, and discussion questions are explicitly tailored to those operating in the agriculture sector.

Proven adult-learning methodology and principles guide the entire process intending to maximize the effectiveness of the delivery and create a long-lasting impact. Practical exposure and panel discussions target the development of real-life capabilities essential to the implementation of sustainable agronomic practices.

Host Country Profile

The country of Vietnam thrives on agriculture. The sector contributes nearly 15% to the GDP covering crop production, fisheries, forestry, and livestock. Vietnam has been exerting great efforts to reduce exclusive agricultural dependency on water, fertilizers, and pesticides by employing a variety of approaches of advanced agronomy. This includes the applications of GPS technology and moisture sensors to overcome challenges with crop selection, market access, and lack of innovation.
